freighter SPARTA in Lake Superior ore trade

1877 In collision with barge VERONA, off Marquette, Michigan, Lake

Superior, damage repaired at Marquette

1879, November On the beach at Cleveland, Ohio; released

1883, September Blown ashore at Marquette, the efforts of seven tugs &

steam barges could not pull her off; finally released

by using screw jacks ending a month of effort

1887, August Went aground on Skillagalee Reef, Lake Michigan, released

by tug CHAMPION

1896, October 27 Documents surrendered at Port Huron,

Michigan, "foundered"
