I have just recently learned that this is the yacht, the Capitola, on which my grandfather, James McCarthy, was the chief cook and was injured on August 27, 1917. It was a steam pipe explosion which resulted in him being hospitalized in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan where he died on September 13th. I am 76, have been concentrating on ancestry, and James has been the most difficult. All I know is that he married my grandmother in August of 1907 and left her soon thereafter. My father was born in 1908 and never saw his father until he saw him in a casket. I have been trying to learn anything that I can about his life after leaving his wife.
I would like to be able to print off the three pictures and specification for this yacht shown on this site or to arrange purchase of them. Kindly advise how we can proceed. Also, any other information you have about the yacht, its owner and crew would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.
Bob McCarthy
