I am a grandchild of W.P. Kavanaugh and our family believes that the Sylvia was one of the tugboats The Kavanaugh Fisheries owned, from 1902 or 1903 until the boat was retired in 1933.
Does anyone know: 1) where this picture of the Sylvia was taken? 2) What is the building behind her?
We know The Kavanaugh Fisheries were active in Alpena from about 1903 to 1930 and that the company had a fish house on the river at 160 East Fletcher Street where the Michigan DNR, Fisheries is currently located.
