I was raised with the knowledge that my Grandfather, Murry Bostwick, was a Captain of this freighter in the 1890's and likely the last ship he captained before he retired due to poor health. My Mother and her 3 siblings and Grandma went on one cruise a summer and she told me many times of their adventures.
He died in the 1930's and I did not know him but his son (my Uncle), John Murry Bostwick I knew well. My brother, David Murry Stahley, was also named after him. How exciting to see this lake freighter again.
I saw and browsed Mr. Labadie"s collection years ago when it was in his basement. It was impressive then as it is now, I am very pleased to see that it will live on to educate and fascinate generations to come. Good job Patrick !
