My grandpa, Capt. Alfred Drouillard, was chosen by Elton Hoyt himself to oversee the build, sail her up the Mississippi to Lake Michigan and be the first captain. He was proud of that boat and happy it was still working when he passed in ‘65. Wouldn’t he be amazed at the Elton Hoyt II has evolved into a whole new boat and is still on the lakes 72 years later.
