- The efforts to digitize and display the newsletters published by Alpena Community College (ACC) students began in 2022. ACC staff completed most of the actions in scanning, describing, and publishing online. The original newsletters are held in the ACC library and can be accessed in person upon request. The Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library (ACL) partnered with the ACC to host the digital scans created using a Copibook OS A2 housed at ACL.
The First of the newsletters was created under the name of The Timber Cruiser and published by the students of Alpena Community College. Copies could be acquired for 10 cents per copy. The original newsletters were published monthly from September to June. The original group of students can be read on page 2 of The Timber Cruiser Vol.2, No.3. Topics covered within the newsletters covered upcoming and ongoing events related to student life, class, and college improvements. - Subject(s)
